Microsoft Robotics Studio (MRS) is a new innovation that has been anounced by Microsoft over this past summer. In order for robotics in the general consumer world to have the capabilities to run advanced routines around the house, they need more computing power. Microsoft's advancement to the robotics industry has brought upon a new age in robotics. However, in order to generate a common software framework. Hardware designers need to come forward and design more robotic oriented hardware. It is about time for robots to roam the house, streets and even the air.

Hardware designers such as VIA Technologies, have seen a need for small general purpose computing systems for robotics.

Whitebox Robotics, I would like to "Dream in White". Apparently these robots are $3995 for the development platform or $4995 for the Model 914 PC Bot. RobotShop.ca..

These robots have great capabilities of being service bots. There are a few scenarios in which these can be applied. Robotic surveillance that can some day become official police. Robocop?

MRS can also be used for for small projects.

"I was wondering if you were using the Microsoft Robot Studio yet? If so, my question is, would it be good for small projects, or is it only for industrial strength projects? How is it as a teaching tool?"

As a project idea:
Run a small program off a PocketPC running Windows CE 6.0, on an inexpensive platform. That program will communicate with a laptop that is running a MRS service. The service on the laptop is capable of working with more than one robot. Using this you can command swarms of robots.

MRS now has a soccer simulation and robodog model.
